Emily on the Red Carpet at the 2025 Tony Awards.
One day in November 2024, Emily was tasked by her Boston Globe editor with going up to teenage boys in the tourist district of Boston to ask them about whether their "broccoli" haircuts were inspired by TikTok. Once you've done that, you're not afraid of anything.
Emily has spent her career as a storyteller — whether she's asking questions to celebrities on the Red Carpet of the Tony Awards, making a TikTok for an agency, editing a podcast episode, or even analyzing data in Meta Ads Manager.
Currently, Emily is a Digital Marketing and Paid Media intern at Gupta Media. She is the first intern to be entrusted with building campaigns on Meta and TikTok Ads Manager, and conducts client-facing analysis. She also creates content for the agency's social media and conducts influencer campaign research.
Previously, she worked as a Digital Marketing Assistant at Theatrely, where she created an influencer database to be used across campaigns of 600+ creators, and conducted outreach and campaign planning for a Broadway show. She also is Theatrely's Editorial Fellow, and coordinates seasonal packages, social media content creation, and SEO-backed digital pieces.
Before all this, she spent a year at the Boston Globe, where she managed the iconic publication's lifestyle social media pages and wrote the fourth most-read story of 2024. She spent six months full time on the Living/Arts desk, where she wrote 85 stories ranging from "Dancing with the Stars" recaps to long-form features on TikTokers. The other six, she chased metro stories on the night shift, which taught her valuable lessons in both perserverence and the reality that nobody wants to pick up the phone after 5 p.m.
Beyond her work in advertising, Emily also is an independent podcast producer and editor. She has produced a narrative episodic series, which will be released in late November, and is creating a new series set to release in Spring 2026. She is the editor of The BU Buzz’s bi-weekly podcast "Do Not Disturb." At Theatrely, she co-hosted a weekly video podcast discussing industry news.
She’s set to graduate from Boston University College of Communication in May 2026. At BU, Emily has been the social media manager on the biggest-budget thesis film in BU history ("Lola"), serves as Shannon Dooling’s teachers’ assistant for the Podcasting course, and is a College of Communication Ambassador. She has completed coursework in journalism, design, advertising, and arts administration.
When she graduates, she plans to move to New York City. She seeks an entry-level role where she can put any or all of her skills to use!
In her free time, Emily loves to watch SNL with her best friend, root for the New York Knicks, and see as much live theatre as humanly possible (yes, it's a problem).
